How To Write Effective Informative Speech free essay sample

Envision you can't get up, to eat, unassisted. Requiring another to dress and wash you all day every day. Is that living? When it’s your opportunity to go, would that be kicking the bucket with pride? Let’s state you have a constant ailment and you are in extraordinary physical torment. Wouldn’t you need the option to request that your primary care physician end your anguish? Or then again is that stepping excessively far? Welcome to the discussion of killing. Today I will examine the history and argumentation of helped self destruction. Helped self destruction, otherwise called killing, is a hot-button issue that was brought into the light by Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Dr. Kevorkian was a dubious lobbyist who attempted to authorize helped self destruction under the contention that everybody merits an altruistic demise. There had been a lot of discussion on the issue, and our lawmaking bodies have investigated what the training involves and the ethical ramifications of helped self destruction. Nonetheless, it is as yet unlawful in the entirety of the United States. Be that as it may, Physician Aid in Dying or PAD is legitimate in Washington, Oregon, and Montana. The thing that matters is that willful extermination includes an outsider to direct the portion, while PAD surrenders it over to the patient to take it. In this introduction I will concentrate exclusively on killing, including the job of Dr. Kevorkian and the ethical ramifications of sanctioning helped self destruction. The idea of picking an opportunity to bite the dust with the assistance of a doctor was first therapeutically investigated by Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Conceived in Royal Oak, Michigan, he went to the University of Michigan. There, he saw patients languishing. Particularly in situations where there was no fix accessible, he needed to end their enduring in an accommodating manner. In his own words Dr. Kevorkian expressed, â€Å"I’m going to do it right.† That was distributed in the New York Times in 2007. As indicated by a 2011 New York Times article, in 1990 Kevorkian helped 130 individuals pass on utilizing his machine named the Thanatron, which is Greek for â€Å"death machine.† A 2011 Washington Post article depicted his scandalous demise machine, which is said to have been produced using scraps. Different techniques Kevorkian utilized were carbon monoxide covering and overdose by infusion. His training earned him the moniker Doctor Death. Because of the argumentative idea of the systems, Dr. Kevorkian needed to perform them in mystery; as I expressed, this was not an open practice. No congregation or medical clinic would have his training. This constrained Dr. Kevorkian to perform helped suicides in his VW van. Be that as it may, Dr. Kevorkian became worn out on doing everything in mystery, and the interest was high. Along these lines, he brought his training out into the open circle. By publicizing his work, expounding on the requirement for helped self destruction and the humanness of passing on with pride, he began an incredible discussion in the United States in a progressively intricate and realistic endeavor to draw open consideration. Dr. Kevorkian taped a shooting of a helped self destruction by a man who had Lou Gehrig’s ailment. The taping was appeared on an hour so as to draw the consideration of the courts, and consideration he got. The courts concluded that the taping of his helped self destruction was viewed as first-degree murder. In 1999 NPR expressed that the court condemned Dr. Kevorkian to 10 to 25 years for this, yet he just served 8. He was discharged on parole on June 1, 2007, depending on the prerequisite that he would not offer counsel on self destruction to anybody. He kicked the bucket four years after the fact of normal causes. Before he kicked the bucket, in any case, Kevorkian expressed, â€Å"Dying isn't a crime.† And since the time he pointed out the thought and practice of helped self destruction, individuals have been discussing the â€Å"how† of that quote. Without a doubt it is the manner by which one enters demise that stems all the discussion. The ethical ramifications alone are sufficient to incite the nation’s most prominent scholastics and specialists to investigate helped self destruction, otherwise called demise guiding and killing. As per an article discharged by the New York Times in 2011, 60% of Kevorkian’s patients who decided to be euthanized were not in critical condition. Also, the greatest study of the technique was the absence of mental investigation and guiding before the strategy. As per another 2011 New York Times article, in any event 19 cases people decided to bite the dust inside 24 hours of meeting Dr. Kevorkian. The Economist expressed, â€Å"Studies of the individuals who looked for Dr. Kevorkian recommend that however many had aâ worsening ailment it was not generally terminal. Dissections show that five individuals had no infection by any means. Minimal over a third were in torment. Some probably experienced close to despondency or depressionâ€Å" (June 9, 2011). In light of this Kevorkian expressed on CNN, â€Å"What contrast does it make in the event that somebody is terminal? We are all terminal† (June 14, 2010). For Kevorkian a patient didn’t fundamentally should be terminal, simply languishing. â€Å"While there are overwhelming investigates against the technique, Kevorkian’s work can be credited for invigorating the discussion and improving finish of-life care in the United States.† That was imprinted in the Detroit Free Press in 2011. Its history is interchangeable with the name Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Kevorkian, while his work was dubious, made open the subject of extraordinary patient misery and a doctor’s job in tending to it. Regardless of whether you bolster or contradict Dr. Kevorkian’s work, recall that there is just a single total throughout everyday life, that it will end one day. At the point when your opportunity arrives, I trust you can go with as much respect as you lived.

Lets gain an understanding of what mechanism of action means, and provide examples within the context of health conditions. Definition Mechanism of action refers  to the biochemical process through which a drug produces its effect. Drugs bind to receptors, which are located on the surface of cells or within a cells cytoplasm â€" a jelly-like substance within a cell. When bound, the drug can act as either an agonist or an antagonist.  Agonist drugs activate the receptors they bind to, which either increases or decreases activity within the cell. Antagonist drugs, on the other hand, block the receptors so that natural agonists within the body cannot bind. Most drugs bind to a specific type of receptor, and this term is called receptor selectivity. The ability of a drug to bind to a certain receptor is based on its unique chemical structure. Examples   The mechanism of action of a medication is the specific biological process through which the medication causes a reduction in symptoms. For example, the mechanism of action of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, is well known. SSRIs inhibit the reuptake of serotonin. This increases the level of serotonin in the brain, which improves a persons mood. For some drugs, the mechanism of action is unknownâ€"so the drug works, but scientists are not sure exactly how it creates its therapeutic effect. An example of a medication with an unknown mechanism of action is lithium, a mood stabilizer used in the treatment of bipolar disorder. Other drugs have multiple known mechanisms of action, like caffeine. More on Mechanism of Action Sometimes the term mechanism of action is used to describe a non-drug treatment. For example, the mechanism of action of a psychosocial interventionâ€"like psychotherapyâ€"is the specific intervention that produces a change in a patients symptoms.  Experts propose that the mechanism of action of psychotherapy is based on the patient-therapist interaction, and how actively they participate in sessions. What This Means for You Its a good idea to understand the mechanism of action of any therapy you are receiving. This may help you conceptualize how the medication or therapy is supposed to help you get better.

Dialectical Journal Michael Chang The Communist Manifesto

Dialectical Journal Michael Chang The Communist Manifesto by. Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels Text Date Response The Manifesto begins with Marx quoting, the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles. Marx describes these classes as two entities; The bourgeoisie as the rich capitalists, and the proletariats, who were the working class. In societies of past, the oppressor and oppressed are in constant opposition to each other. This fight can be obvious or sublime. However, every time the conflict ends in either a revolutionary reconstruction of society or common ruin. While the bourgeoisie had originally served the nobility/monarchy, but they eventually dominated Europe. With this political empowerment came the destruction of the social principles on which previous societies were based. The proletariat are the commodity of bourgeois enterprise, a class of laborers who live only so long as they can find work, and who find work only so long as their labor increases capital. As with any other commodity, businesses want to minimize their cost of production; in this case, the wage that must be paid in order to make use of the worker s labor power. As slaves to their bourgeois masters, the proletariats hate the bourgeoisie. This hatred leads to the mass mobilization helped by ever improving communication and technologies. Reservoir Dogs Essays - Concept Albums, Feces, Interjections

Reservoir Dogs Gangsters, violence, murder and corruption !!!!! If these are some of the things that you're into, then this is your kind of movie. Be ready to watch it more than once to be sure to get all the movie has to offer because it jumps from subject to subject and can be a little confusing. The movie on the whole was really great. It was filled with some pretty gory scenes and extreme violent content, Tarantinos' trademark. The way he portrays the real life aspects of crime and violence are unbelievable. I wonder if he experienced some of these things himself and that's why he has a realistic view of them. Then again, I can't really gauge how realistic any of these themes are because after watching this kind of movie it makes me feel like I lead a really sheltered lifestyle. Why does all the violence in Tarantinos' movies become so attractive to us normal people? I think it's because most of his material is underworld stuff. He deals with things we can barely relate to. Topics that are so far fetched to a "normal" person that they kind of hypnotize us into watching. Things happen in his movies that are so bizarre, we can't begin to imagine them happening to us in real life. The weird part is, many of these things DO happen every day. We all know there really are gangsters, mobsters and really low-life people that involve themselves in what we think of as underworld crime. Drug deals.... on a level so great... amounts we can't begin to comprehend. Murders, for whatever reason. Even the thought of hiring someone to kill someone else gives us a goose bump or three. In his movies it's almost like borrowing a cup of sugar from your next door neighbor. Chopping off someone's ear would repulse me and probably make me want to spew my lunch. Tarantinos' characters chop off ears then talk into them as if they were using ma bell. His characters attitudes are totally ruthless. They could give a shit if you were the cousin of the president or a nanny. They have a job to do and they do it. No holes barred, no questions asked, no thought given to actions or consequences. They are almost like robots, zombies of the underworld that have no emotions or respect for the value of life. You would think these characters are drugged or brainwashed, but they're not. It amazes me that people do this kind of shit as if it were just another day. It's as second nature to them as brushing our teeth every morning is to us. Belonging. Everyone likes to feel like they fit in. There is a certain comfort level in belonging to something, anything. Even if it is to a gang of criminal types. I think that's another reason we all relate or get captured by viewing these kinds of movies. I can only compare it to a fraternity; fraternity brothers all belong to an organized group. They have similar interests, goals and acquaintances. All Tar antinos' characters have these things in common. Although they aren't exactly what we would consider acceptable, they all still feel this common bond. It's a sick kind of thing though. When you think of all the things life has to offer, why would you want to involve yourself in all this complicated criminal shit? They jeopardize their own existence because even though they are considered members of the organization, they would snuff each other out in the blink of an eye if the right person told them to do it !!!! I have to admit I was totally awed by his movie. I couldn't wait for the next scene to start. As a movie maker, his ideas and the way he presents them are phenomenal. He definitely captures his viewers. You don't even want to blink for fear of missing something. I would like to see him do a movie about topics that aren't so bizarre just to see if the movies would be as good.

Is this job/company/industry right for you? If not, can you move? How long would the process take? If the problem turns out to be your attitude and not your work life, then you can fix that with a lot less logistical mess.3. Think about the big picture.Zoom out and start thinking about your future. Ask yourself what you really want- a sort of mission statement for your career. Make yourself a declaration of purpose, along with rough sketch of where you want to be in 5 years. Then ask yourself how you can get there. Suck whatever marrow you can from the bone you have in front of you while planning how to get the next one. Find your breakthrough moment- when you realize what you want and how you are going to go about getting it.4. Look at the other grass.Think that career across the lawn looks greener and easier? Take some time to watch someone else work and see a) whether their life is actually much different , and (more importantly) b) whether you can infuse something you learn from watching them work into how your approach your own professional journey. You never know what sort of revolutionary methods you can come up with to jazz up your career.5. Surround yourself with positive people.Bond with colleagues who radiate positivity. When you’re stuck in a rut and hate your job, it can be really easy (and sometimes utterly necessary) to fall into the habit of spending all your time with other complaining coworkers. But if you try to spend some time with the people who aren’t quite so jaded, you might just find your own attitude improves by osmosis.6. Do better.Just because your job isn’t all it’s cracked up to be doesn’t mean that you can phone it in or casually fail at it. Keep improving and see if you can get that extra award or certification, or reach that higher bar in order to make a transition out of there much easier. Take online courses. Take you r company up on professional development programming. Start trying super-hard and see what happens.7. Practice self-care.On bad days when you just can’t stand it anymore, don’t despair. Instead, take a quick walk outside to shake off your bad mood. Go take a coffee- or an ice cream- break somewhere in nature. Whatever you do, don’t let your whole mood and demeanor go sour because of small things. Shake it off and get back to the task at hand- improving your situation or finding a path out.

The topic should be relatable and informative. In choosing the topic, the author must consider the current events that are happening, the most talked about a topic that the readers would be interested to read. Death penalty is one of the biggest issues that have been revolving in the news for a very long time. Below are the tips on how to start writing your own research paper about the death penalty. Tips on how to start 1. Gather Information A student should first read journals and articles that are related to death penalty to be able to understand the topic well. An author should touch every aspect of the topic so when the writing starts not to state the false truth and to make the research paper or thesis reliable and factual. 2. Familiarize with the topic Familiarization will help an author see different sides of the topic death penalty. He or she can do this by watching videos of debate on death penalty. This way a student will understand the topic better and will be able to write the research paper in an objective manner. It is important to be objective in this kind of topic because the readers will have the freedom to take a side based on truths and evidences and not just based on the subjective point of view of the author. 3. Incorporate laws in the research Death penalty is a very sensitive topic and the information about it should be disseminated to the readers in a manner that is not derogatory to anyone. Reading law articles would be helpful in writing a research paper on this topic. This way the author will be informed of what laws are interconnected and related to death penalty. Making an outline An outline will serve as a guide for a research paper to be written in an organized manner so that the readers will understand it. This will help you organize your thoughts and ideas before writing. It is important to make an outline first before making the research paper to avoid errors and mixed information. The outline should consist of the following points: Thesis statement Supporting Arguments Body of the research paper of thesis Conclusion Outline example Thesis Title Abolish Death Penalty Thesis Statement Death penalty should be abolished because there is no assurance that the justice system is foolproof. It will only make the risks higher for innocent people to be punished in crimes they did not do. Supporting Arguments a) Killing people is inhumane and immoral. b) Death penalty is against human rights and very barbaric. C) The prisoners in the death row can possibly be innocent. Body of the Research Paper List of reasons why death penalty never fit a crime and why it is not morally accepted. Conclusion a) Supporting quote (relate back to intro): â€Å"The fear of death is the fear of life.† b) Restate thesis: Death penalty will not help people find justice; instead, it will only worsen the flaw in our justice system. Above is a sample outline that will guide you and give you an idea on how to make your own research paper. In your actual research paper or thesis, the body of the paragraph should consist of more than four paragraphs while the conclusion can be one long paragraph. Thesis statement examples In order to help you with your research paper, here are some thesis statement examples that will give you an idea of writing your own. The thesis statement is the problem that will be discussed in the entire research paper so if the statement is good the whole paper will be good. Death penalty should be abolished because of there is no assurance that the justice system is foolproof. It will only make the risks higher for innocent people to be punished for crimes they did not do. The approval of death penalty will only bring back the medieval way of punishing people in the most inhumane way. Death penalty is just like giving the politicians the right to murder anyone to settle political scores. Example of a death penalty research paper introduction In each given thesis statement examples above, there is a correspondent example introduction below to show you how to make an introduction. An introduction should always answer the questions why and how, why it should happen and how it would be accomplished. This will also help you come up with your own introduction in your research paper. The abolition of the death penalty should be pushed through so no one will be put into jail and die because of injustice. It will only happen if the government justice system will listen to the peoples cry and if they will consider human acts of punishment. In the medieval times, people were punished to death if they did something that is against the law. If we just continue this inhumane act of our ancestors, we will only prove that we have not evolved and stayed the same. In this present age, people are more open to change; if we continue the traditional punishment it only will show that there is no difference between the medieval people and us. Death penalty is an act that shows how the justice system will legalize a different kind of murder. The politicians who abuse their powers will be delighted to use death penalty as their scapegoat in murdering innocent people that come their way. How to write body paragraphs for a research paper on death penalty A body of the paper should contain supporting statements that will make the research paper convincing. Below are some tips on how to write the body of the paragraph. Tips on writing the body of the research paper You should start by writing your main and supporting ideas. The main ideas should always be in the first paragraph and the supporting ideas should be on the next paragraphs so the readers will understand the main topic. Each idea has to be explained and elaborated well for the readers to understand it clearly. You can also provide examples to give clarification to the readers. You should cite legitimate sources in your research paper. In finding supporting statements, you should make sure that you cited from books and journals that are used by lawyers and professionals. This will make your research paper authentic and reliable. If you want, you can also state news and article reviews as evidences of your statements. Conclusion in every paragraph is optional but it can also help the readers summarize the whole research paper. Below is an example of a short body of the paragraph to be your guide in writing your own research paper on death penalty. Thesis statement: Death penalty should be abolished because of its injustice. First paragraph example There is a number of reasons why death penalty never fit a crime. Even if a person did a crime, there is still no valid reason for anyone to sentence him death. The current justice system states that a person who committed the worst crime should be punished based on how worst his crime is. This seems to be completely illogical and contradictory. How can a person be accused of a crime that he did not do anything about? The answer is no one; therefore, the death penalty is not morally accepted. Second paragraph example In terms of morality, those people who receive the death penalty are usually not physically or mentally fit to receive the punishment. Some are suffering from mental disabilities that have caused them commit such crimes. Twelve percent of people who are on the death row are proven mentally retarded making them not fit to the punishment of death. Third paragraph example The electric chair used for killing people who are in the death row has reported to fail and causes multiple attempts of execution before the prison actually die. Even the lethal injection used in modern execution sometimes fails and makes the prisoners execution slower and painful. Things like this prove that there is a serious flaw in the justice system. How to write a conclusion of a research paper on death penalty A conclusion serves as the summary of a research paper. It will also include your stand on the topic, whether you agree or disagree. It is important to include a conclusion in every research paper because it will be the closing paragraph and it indicates the end of the research paper. Tips for writing a conclusion A conclusion should have a brief summary of a body of a research paper. You can use a quotation related to death penalty to capture the attention of your readers until the end. Recall some important points in the body of the research so that the information will be refreshed in the mind of the readers. Compare your topic with other. In this way, you will show the readers that your research paper is broad and universal. Lastly, give recommendations. This will make your conclusion more professional. To complete your guide in writing a research paper on death penalty, below is an example of a conclusion that you can use as to help you write your own conclusion. Example of a conclusion A wise man once said, â€Å"The fear of death is the fear of life.† Death penalty will not help people find justice; instead, it will only worsen the flaw in our justice system. The people who commit crimes should receive punishment but not in the form of death. Their lives should be valued no matter what mistake they have made. They should learn their lesson while in jail but they should never suffer death as a form of payment for their crimes. Revision Tips After submitting your final thesis or research paper your professor/instructor will give advice on how you can improve your research paper. Below are some tips on how you will revise your paper fast and efficiently. List down corrections When your professor gives back your thesis or research paper for the revision you must first check what are the parts that need revision. Once you finish scanning the paper for all the revisions needed you can already start revising. The best technique to make revising fast is to go page by page. When you do this, you can make sure that there is no single word in the research paper that you have not seen. Consider feedback Your professor aims to help you in your research paper so you should consider all his notes and advice in improving your research paper. Accept that your paper is not perfect and the advice that he or she gave you is important and will be so much help. Ask for help When you are having a hard time correcting your own work it is okay to ask someone for help. It may be your classmate, brother, sister, or parents, as long as they are willing and knowledgeable you should always consider their help. Sometimes we cannot see our own mistakes, so having another person check your work and give comments about it will not only improve the research paper it will also give you ideas on how to make it better the next time you make another research paper.

Work-based Learning Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words

Work-based Learning - Essay Example Thus, the drastic changes that have been taking place in every field of occupation due to globalisation has also resulted in the new knowledge economy where the essential issues become what counts as knowledge sin an organisation, how this knowledge is transmitted and stored, who owns it, and how it is shared etc. that is to say, there has been an increasing significance for both individual workplace learning and organisational learning. Significantly, "workplace learning is a process through which both individuals and organisations move towards desirable and sustainable outcomes. However, this raises the question of whether individual learning and organisational learning are congruent and synonymous. In principle, the desirable outcomes and planned goals of individuals and organisations may diverge. ... Learning in the contemporary world of globalisation has been realised as an important process which involves experience with knowing and there is great scope for work-based learning in every field of education. According to the UK's Campaign for Learning, learning can be defined as "a process of active engagement with experience. It is what people do when they want to make sense of the world. It may involve an increase in skills, knowledge or understanding, a deepening of values, or the capacity to reflect. Effective learning will lead to change, development and a desire to learn more." (Campaign for Learning, 2) This definition of learning suggests the importance of work-experience in the process of learning which can result in an increase in skills, knowledge or understanding, a deepening of values, or the capacity to reflect. Significantly, work-based learning, which is central and most important aspect of learning to impact on performance at work, reflects the concept of work-experience in the process of learning and it is a practical approach to learning and experience. With the emphasis on high standards in the learning process of higher education, the question is now open about what approach educators may employ in order to achieve those standards. Even in the high school levels of learning, educational reforms to help the student development emphasise the incorporation of work-based learning which integrates experiences outside of the school with classroom learning. "Over the last 15 years, some education reformers have argued that integrating experiences outside of the school with classroom learning is an effective approach to engaging students in their studies and helping to prepare them for education and work after high

No subject Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

No subject - Essay Example On the other hand, baby girls prefer nurturing, cooperative, and dolls play. In school, most boys excel in math and science subjects while girls in art and literature. Girls read, write, and talk earlier than boys do. Girls are also more empathetic and emotional with other people than boys. However, boys are physically active and more aggressive than girls. According to Kimmel (22), the hormonal and genetic factors define gender differences. This research assumes that biological sex determined behavioural differences. This research shows that, the variation in gender is explored in the definitions of femininity and masculinity. Biologically, men carry different levels of testosterone and brain structure than women. This explains why most men are sex driven than women. It also explains why most women are more emotional, moody, and sensitive than men. Still, newborn girls are sensitive to sound and touch than newborn boys. They also show more interest in holding eye contact and communi cating with others than boys. Girls with CAH, which is an enzyme deficiency that produces male hormones in girls’ foetus, may show interest in sports activities and become more muscular in future. However, other studies reveal nature plays a crucial role on gender stereotypes. ... In most cases, girls are more pampered than boys and this makes them to be more emotional than boys. Children learn some behaviour from the media. For instance, the media portrays female characters as emotional, romantic, and fragile. On the other hand, the media portrays male characters as more bold, enterprising, and active. Most commercials for boys are loud and stimulating while those for girls are quiet and soothing. With this in mind, children who watch more TV shows exhibit more gender stereotypes about boys and girls. At a tender age, the child begins to understand how he or she should behave in the society as dictated by nature. In the society, certain human traits are socially specialized of only one sex. For instance, boys are expected to be muscularly strong while girls are not. Girls are also expected to be emotional, sensitive, caring, loving, and submissive. In some instances, the society expects women to nurture, cook for their spouses, and go for shopping. It is impo rtant to note that, culture plays a vital role in gender differences. In most cultures, women perform household chores and responsible for child care. However, most cultures demand men to provide for their family. In African countries, men are more empowered than women. With this, it is evident that traditions and social customs contribute to the gender ideologies and differences. Most muscular men participates more on body building competitions while women participate more in the public sector because of the nature of performing child care duties. Several theorists have attempted to explain gender inequality and division of labour. For instance, Kimmel (56) points out that, the impact of property owning, the demand of winning in the war, and the

Industry Production :: Industrial Production Manufacturing Essays

Industry Production The structure of industrial production and the service industries is characterized by the prevalence of smarkforce, 30% beingll and medium-sized companies (94% and 5.6% according to 100 workers) thoug981 data), employing, however, only 70% of the workforce, 30% being monopolized by large c ompanies (more than 100 workers) though these comprise only 0.4% of the total. This means that companies are widely dispersed over the whole country, obviously with significant location and concentration of industry, and more than half the industrial comp anies operate at little more than workshop level, as is seen by the small workforce in each production unit. On the other hand, the small number of large companies is explained by increased concentration, at that level also indicated by the high number of employees. There is only a limited number of cooperative companies (food sector and the transformation of agricultural products), while large companies tend to become multinational. The presence of companies with foreign capital monopolizing specific commodity secto rs (pharmaceuticals, photographic materials, electronics, cosmetics etc.) is far from rare. One particular kind of development regards medium-sized companies, frequently derivations of small family-run businesses with a specialized production, which as a result of management flexibility have succeeded in reconverting production and using technol ogical innovations which, with increased competitivity, enable them to penetrate international markets, in this way contributing to the consolidation of the Italian image and presence throughout the world. The Industrial Sectors The steel and metalworking industries The country's economic revival in the immediate postwar period was essentially sustained by development and expansion of the basic industries, particularly the steel industry, itself conditioned by the importation of raw materials such as ores, scrap iron and coal. Membership of ECSC enabled the Italian steel industry, which had installed the integral processing cycle, to attain extremely high levels of production thus satisfying increasingly greater domestic demand, such as that of the engineering industry, as well as the export market. Following plant reconversion steel and metal production is now stagnating due to the international economic situation dominated by strong competition from Japanese industries and plastics, leading to overproduction in the principal European countries. The engineering industries Mechanical engineering production is extremely varied and includes companies such as shipbuilding, aerospace, carbuilding etc. with complex work cycles, together with the manufacturers of simple tools. Component manufacturing is also well developed and cl osely allied to companies producing durable goods not easily classified in any one sector (for example, non-metallic materials used in the car industry: rubber, glass, plastics etc). In practice, mechanical engineering with its diversification and multiple relationships with other industries is considered the mainstay of the national productive system also in terms of the large workforce employed (over 2,2

Summary of the Yellow Wallpaper

Summary of â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† by Charlotte Gillman In â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper,† Charlotte Gillman tells a story of a woman, her husband, and their three month stay at a beautiful home with hideous yellow wallpaper in the master bedroom. The story begins with the woman’s complaints to her husband John about his choice to use the room with the yellow wallpaper instead of one with roses on the window being denied because he felt it would be good for her â€Å"nervous condition†.The woman thought that there was something strange about the house but John told her that her feelings were mere nonsense and that she should get plenty of rest during their stay to try and help her condition. He told her that she should also stay away from her love of writing while he is away treating his patients because it would be too stressful for her condition. During John’s frequent absences the woman begins to obsess over the yellow wallpaper, even going as f ar as to stare at it all night. The woman began to hallucinate about a lady being trapped within the wallpaper after dark and creeping around the garden by day.Her husband thought she was getting better when all that was occurring was his wife was going crazy trying not to bother him. The woman spoke of a recurrent spot where the pattern lolls like a broken neck and two bulbous eyes staring at you upside down. By the end of the story the woman barricaded herself in the master bedroom, ripping down wallpaper in a desperate attempt to free the lady that creeps in the garden by day and is trapped in the walls at night. The purpose of the story is to show how both men and women should have a purpose in society.

Definition of Reliability in Research

Reliability is the degree to which a measurement instrument gives the same results each time that it is used, assuming that the underlying thing being measured does not change. Key Takeaways: Reliability If a measurement instrument provides similar results each time it is used (assuming that whatever is being measured stays the same over time), it is said to have high reliability.Good measurement instruments should have both high reliability and high accuracy.Four methods sociologists can use to assess reliability are the test-retest procedure, the alternate forms procedure, the split-halves procedure, and the internal consistency procedure. An Example Imagine that you’re trying to assess the reliability of a thermometer in your home. If the temperature in a room stays the same, a reliable thermometer will always give the same reading. A thermometer that lacks reliability would change even when the temperature does not. Note, however, that the thermometer does not have to be accurate in order to be reliable. It might always register three degrees too high, for example. Its degree of reliability has to do instead with the predictability of its relationship with whatever is being tested. Methods to Assess Reliability In order to assess reliability, the thing being measured must  be measured more than once. For example, if you wanted to measure the length of a sofa to make sure it would fit through a door, you might measure it twice. If you get an identical measurement twice, you can be confident you measured reliably. There are four procedures for assessing the reliability of a test. (Here, the term test refers to a group of statements on a questionnaire, an observers quantitative or qualitative  evaluation, or a combination of the two.) The Test-Retest Procedure Here, the same test is given two or more times. For example, you might create a questionnaire with a set of ten statements to assess confidence. These ten statements are then given to a subject twice at two different times. If the respondent gives similar answers both times, you can assume the questions assessed the subjects answers reliably. One advantage of this method is that only one test needs to be developed for this procedure. However, there are a few downsides of the test-retest procedure. Events might occur between testing times that affect the respondents answers; answers might change over time simply because people change and grow over time; and the subject might adjust to the test the second time around, think more deeply about the questions, and reevaluate their answers. For instance, in the example above, some respondents might have become more confident between the first and second testing session, which would make it more difficult to interpret the results of the test-retest procedure. The Alternate Forms Procedure In the alternate forms procedure (also called parallel forms reliability), two tests are given. For example, you might create two sets of five statements measuring confidence. Subjects would be asked to take each of the five-statement questionnaires. If the person gives similar answers for both tests, you can assume you measured the concept reliably. One advantage is that cueing will be less of a factor because the two tests are different. However, its important to ensure that both alternate versions of the test are indeed measuring the same thing. The Split-Halves Procedure In this procedure, a single test is given once. A grade is assigned to each half separately and grades are compared from each half. For example, you might have one set of ten statements on a questionnaire to assess confidence. Respondents take the test and the questions are then split into two sub-tests of five items each. If the score on the first half mirrors the score on the second half, you can presume that the test measured the concept reliably. On the plus side, history, maturation, and cueing arent at play. However, scores can vary greatly depending on the way in which the test is divided into halves. The Internal Consistency Procedure Here, the same test is administered once, and the score is based upon average similarity of responses. For example, in a ten-statement questionnaire to measure confidence, each response can be seen as a one-statement sub-test. The similarity in responses to each of the ten statements is used to assess reliability. If the respondent doesnt answer all ten statements in a similar way, then one can assume that the test is not reliable. One way that researchers can assess internal consistency is by using statistical software to calculate Cronbach’s alpha. With the internal consistency procedure, history, maturation, and cueing arent a consideration. However, the number of statements in the test can affect the assessment of reliability when assessing it internally.
